Yes, I had visited Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania before, but that was a long time ago (2007), and it was the middle of winter, so I was due for a refresher.
I had fond memories of Vilnius, mostly a chaotic 2 days with Alistair, Angel, Sarah and Jason, but now I was here in Summer! So I was keen to see the city without all that white-stuff (i.e. snow).
This was only a pit stop, as I headed south, chasing the remnants of Summer, and I figured it was a nice spot to chill for a day.
Good Food
The foodie scene in Vilnius has apparently changed quite a bit, especially over the past 5 years, as Lithuanians have become a little more health-conscious.
ZATAR falafel & hummus
A simple menu of plate and pita falafels, but the taste was amazing. A definite MUST for vegetarians in town.
No Forks
If you like a great burrito, then you will love No Forks. One of the best burritos I’ve had.
Good Coffee
First, I tried Huracan Coffee, but the coffee was milky and not that tasty, so I would not recommend it as a place to go.
Second, I tried…
“BREW” Kavos virėjai
And if you like STRONG coffee, that is fresh and tasty, then you will love this cafe. The service was pretty good too.
Good Uber
It’s a gamble tapping on the little Uber icon, and wondering if ride-sharing has been kicked out of the city yet by the taxi monopoly.
So I was thrilled to see a driver only minutes away to relieve all the walking I had done.
Yes- Vilnius has Uber! Love it, Use it.
Good Massage
I hadn’t had a massage since Glasgow, so I was very keen to get one. I found an awesome place called…
Tailando Masazai
The one hour full body massage felt “remedial” and was fantastic for only EUR34. It was very close to the Bus/ Train Station, and not too far from Old Town. I would recommend…
Good Sights
There is some great street art around town.
There are plenty of beautiful buildings to see in Old Town…
That’s all.
