2023 Packing List for Carry On Only

So. It’s been a little while, since my first packing list in 2016 for carry-on only. Times have changed. So here goes. With 7 – 10kg max carry on limit, here’s what I’m packing:

  • 1 x samsonite suitcase (weighing 1.7kg)
  • 1 x padded foldable jacket (lightweight)
  • 1 x long pants (comfortable to fly in)
  • 1 x shorts
  • 1 x skirt
  • 2 x casual dresses
  • 1 x long sleeve lightweight knit
  • 5 x short sleeve tops
  • 6 x undies
  • 4 x bras
  • 3 x anklet socks
  • 1 x bikini
  • 1 x sandals
  • 1 x walking shoes
  • toiletries (all under 100ml) – crystal deodorant, magnesium cream, aromatherapy roller, tinted day moisturiser, muscle balm, hand/ body moisturiser, roll on sunscreen, roll on moov insect repellent, lip balm, translucent powder and mini kabuki brush, mini mascara, 3 lipsticks, paw paw ointment, toothpaste, bamboo toothbrush, shampoo/ conditioner bar.
  • supplements – magnesium, immune defence, herbal stress relief.
  • 1 x LG gram and sleeve
  • 1 x keyboard
  • 1 x mouse
  • 1 x laptop stand
  • 1 x laptop/ phone charger
  • 1 x Smartwatch + charger
  • 1 x Samsung S21
  • eye mask
  • microfibre towel
  • notebook and pen
  • small padlock
  • 1 x pair of glasses
  • 5 x KN95 masks
  • 1 x pack of wipes
  • 1 x RAT
  • 1 x umbrella
  • 1 x lightweight toiletries bag
  • 1 x bra bag for laundry

Some things I learned while packing:

  • Buying lightweight clothes that don’t crease is STILL the best strategy.  I got a great super-light jacket from Decathlon. Still avoid heavy wools, and cottons and opt for polyesters
  • Lightweight shoes are still VERY bad for your feet, so go for quality support, especially if you need arch support.
  • I’m still not a fan of packing cubes.  If you don’t have a lot of things, you don’t need “packing cubes” to organise them.
