It’s been a hectic run over the past couple of months, so when looking for a place to do very little, Algarve in Portugal was a great option.
There are many villages and towns on Portugal’s Gold Coast, so I opted for one that was quiet, had a calm beach, and enough facilities for chilling.
After the initial airbnb glitch arriving in Quarteira, it looked like a perfect spot to relax.
There was also Uber which was very convenient for getting to Lidl Supermarket for the initial grocery run. But then I discovered an Intermarche about 10 minutes walk down the main road that had everything I needed.
The days consisted of leisurely walks, and even a swim on the warmest day.
First Travel Injury
It is strange that I sustained my first travel injury in Quarteira while doing as little as possible. Not paying attention while walking down the main street, I walked into a low, dangerous yellow bollard on the footpath, which was leaning at an angle.
It was a jolt to my shin, and it hurt like hell. I thought it wasn’t anything to worry about, except the bruise and swelling came up really fast.
I’ve never had such a huge bruise. I guess it was perfect timing that I could then spend the week with my leg up!

And perfect for walking.
Some pop up food markets.
Still a fishing village…
Mesmerising sunsets.
Occasional quirky street art.
And yes, that final sunset.
