Valencia is the third largest city in Spain. It is a bustling University town, with a gorgeous Old Town, efficient metro/ bus/ tram system, and beach as well.
It’s almost a walkable city and there is plenty to see on foot, which is perfect for budget travel.
These are the things I loved about Valencia.
1. The Central Market
A beautiful structure with fresh fruits, vegetables and meats.
2. Valencia Cathedral and Royal Basilica
Some paid entrance required, but I stuck to the free-zones. Don’t forget to look up!
3. Garden of the Turia
Once a river, but now an amazing walkable/ rideable garden.
4. Plaza de Toros de Valencia
Just next door to the main Train Station.
5. Torres de Quart
Make sure you grab one of the best coffees in Valencia just next door at Mayan Coffee.
6. Yelmo Cinema
Yay! I could go to the cinema, and see a film in English! For EUR5.90 it was a good deal.
7. The Beach
A short train, and then tram ride from the centre. Not as nice as the beach in Alicante, but can be good for cooling off in Summer.
8. Public Transport
Clean, efficient, and only EUR1.40 a ride on the metro. Also I really enjoyed a ride to the beach on the tram.
